OBLIQUITY OF THE ECLIPTIC is a four-screen animated painting with soundscapes that captures breathing, pulsating, playful, uncanny, visceral, and sensory elements across the spectrum of nature’s seasons. Lynn Tomlinson and Josh Dorman developed a process to work collaboratively on four large paper artworks, passing their collaged, painted images back and forth, layering elements to craft complex looping cycles. Jacob Garcia-Buñuel’s (Slippy Buñuel’s) audio scores layer a mix of musical and textural recordings, each looping at a different interval to achieve an ever-changing sonic representation of animated elements, imagining the earth and its seasonal shifts as a body, a machine, a system, a collection of collective memories and metaphors.
First exhibited at FAB Dimensional - Expanded Animation Exhibit at the Festival of Animation Berlin, 8-11 October 2026, at silent green Kulturquartier, Berlin, Germany.
